The first and second-level boosters disengaged smoothly, each separation amplifying the weightless sensation. Unstrapping from my seat and floating freely, it hit me—this was real. This wasn’t a simulation anymore.
As we flew past the moon, what used to take three days now happened in just a few hours. It felt no more dramatic than a quick flight from New York to Seattle. Alistar and I constantly communicated with Mission Control, reporting that the boosters had disengaged as planned and that we were preparing for the slingshot maneuver around the moon.
